Southern Lights SAUVIGNON Blanc Marlborough 2010

Southern Lights SAUVIGNON Blanc Marlborough 2010

Because New Zealand has had it's largest vintage ever in 2009 there ihas been more wine produced at Omaka Springs than they can realistically sell under their Prestige Label.
So rather than sell in bulk to other vineyards & to keep their Omaka Springs label as there best - they have produced a Second Label Wine.
Southern Lights - a fantastic zingy, fresh & zesty wine with a long flavoursome aftertaste. At a fantastic price of only £7.45 while we can.

Wairau River Estate Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2009

Wairau River Estate Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2009

Wairau River wines take their name from the river that runs through the heart of the Marlborough wine region.
The Rose family were pioneers in planting vines in the 1970`s and after originally selling the grapes to other wineries (like Cloudy Bay) they launched their own label in the early 1990`s. Wairau River is one of the largest independent wine estates in Marlborough.
Classic expression of the dry, gooseberry, grass and passion fruit style of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Clean and crisp it is bursting with minerality and white stone fruit flavours. Expressive on the palate, finishing with great length. This fashionable white wine is a benchmark by which New World Sauvignons are judged. Awarded a Gold Medal at the prestigious Royal Hobart Show.

Astrolabe Voyage Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2010

Astrolabe Voyage Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2010

The northern tip of South Island has become New Zealand`s most important wine region since sheep farming and cherry orchards were first replaced with vineyard in the 1970s. Much of the land is alluvial river basin with well-drained soils that provide an ideal environment for pungent, grassy Sauvignon Blanc. Pinot Noir from the more suitable clay slopes and Pinot Gris are also proving world-beaters.
Award winning winemaker, Simon Waghorn, has crafted a fantastic Sauvignon from fruit grown in the Waihopai, Wairau and Brandcott Valleys. Picked in the cool evening to retain acidity and freshness, it is pale straw in colour with green highlights. A fresh aroma of lemon grass and lime peel precedes a panoploly of citrus fruit flavours. Refreshing, cool and with a smooth lingering finish. IWSC International Trophy Champion Sauvignon Blanc in 2008.

Mount Difficulty Sauvignon Blanc Central Otago South Island 2010

Mount Difficulty Sauvignon Blanc Central Otago South Island 2010

Although small, Central Otago is a rapidly developing wine growing region with an international reputation for Pinot Noir & Aromatic Whites. The only inland wine region of New Zealand and at 45 degrees, this is the world`s southernmost winemaking location. 100% pure New Zealand, cool and stunning, this outstandingly beautiful mountainous area rises to over 2000m with the vines planted amongst the spectacular alpine scenery
Hand harvested from the Templars Hill Vineyard in Bannockburn, gently pressed and cold fermented in stainless steel and left on its lees for two months to retain maximum varietal fruit character and complexity. Fairhall Downs 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough

Fairhall Downs 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough

Another of the superb Marborough Sauvignon's. This is staggeringly good & made with a little barrel fermentation for a little more body than other Marlborough Sauvignons but still zesty & fresh - a wine we used to buy a few years ago in very short supply - we are pleased to have found this wine again. Each vintage gets better & better ..............this 2010 is GREAT. Purposely they try to keep the wine for a year or so before release as it just improves with a little age, but certainly does not loose its freshness or zing....
