Boekenhouksloof Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
The 2016 is the third release of the Boekenhoutskloof Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon and the first of the now well documented "drought vintages" of `16,`17 and `18. These trying conditions resulted in a tiny crop of small bunches, the resultant wines full of concentration, and definitely yielding age-worthy wines, extracted, rich and full bodied." This 2016 Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon is powerful and plush with ripe blackberry and damson fruit and plenty of new wood. You will also find blackcurrant, licquorice root, cedar and whole tobacco leaf from the nose of this dark, suave red. The palate is smooth and seductive in feel, with structured yet plush and pillowy tannins that, combined with the ripe black fruit and black berry flavours, lend a textural impression like crushed velvet. Boekenhoutskloof was established in 1776. The chairs on their wine label all pay tribute to the skills of the 18th century craftsmen and their achievements in creating beauty from natural sources, just like the pursuit of fine wine-making. Boekenhout is an indigenous Cape Beech tree greatly prized for furniture making. Boekenhoutskloof`s Managing Partner & Technical Director Marc Kent is the driving force behind the various brands and properties within the Boekenhoutskloof stable, his principal commitment is to quality on every level and in every detail.
