Chateau Smith Haut Lafite is one of the rising stars of the Pessac Leognan Appellation. It is an excellent estate that produces increasingly magnificent wine. The wine has an elegant structure, not too much oak, intense fruit and balanced tannins. It also has fabulous fruit undertones and a wonderfully long finish of cocoa and spices. This magnificent 2016 Vintage is a touch softer than 2015 and will mature slightly earlier. This Château Smith Haut Lafitte sports a lovely, deep-red colour with glints of dark purple. The complex nose reveals very fresh notes of ripe red fruits (raspberry, cherry), liquorice and spices. On the palate, the wine is balanced, with good concentration. It displays lovely substance and maturity, with a delicate but firm tannic structure. A Pessac-Léognan with solid potential and one to definitely look forward to!
