Segla, Château Rauzan Segla, Margaux 2014

Code: AG46

£0.00

Ségla is the second wine of the famous Margaux second growth estate of Château Rauzan-Ségla, owned by the Wertheimer family who also own Chanel. There are 72 hectares of vines planted on mainly gravel with clay soils and the vines average 35 years in age. The current winemaker, Nicholas Audebert, has been in place since 2014 and he has overseen a succession of excellent vintages, striking the perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Ségla is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc and spends 4 months in oak barrels. More accessible than the first wine, the tannins are riper and smoother making the Ségla ripe and ready for early drinking. An excellent example of good value Margaux drinking well now, it will soften and improve over the next 7-8 years. A deep purple-red in colour. Aromas of cassis, violets and cedar. Medium-bodied on the palate with balanced tannins and notes of sweet black fruits leading to a lingering finish.
