Summer Selection June 2020

 |

So, the summer solstice has now been and gone and we are hurtling towards what would normally be summer holiday season.  Following the announcement today that lockdown restrictions are to be eased, perhaps we can now start to think about what we can actually do over the summer months. One thing is for certain, the children will have broken up before we know it - although the end of the school year won't be anything like normal but most likely we will all be aiming to 'holiday' in some way during July and August.

Seeing as the sun is going to be out this week, we've done a straw poll around the office to find out what might be on everyone's summer sunny weather wine short list. As you can see from the photo of our selection, there is a classic Provence Rose, some may say that no summer selection would be complete without one! Our Pierre de Taille Rose is delicious, typically pale salmon pink in colour, not too dry, but oh so refreshing. Staying in France, but moving to the North, we have Gautheron Chablis, wonderfully full with a rich minerally style, it is fantastic both on its own and with food. Next up, classic hot weather whites from Italy, Spain and Portugal, Valdadige Pinot Grigio, Pago Traslagares Rueda Verdejo and Vinho Verde.

Finishing up with a slight curve ball, and leaving Europe to head to South America where our Vistamar Sepia Reserva Pinot Noir originates from - well worth a try and chilling for a wonderfully light, smooth red.
